Kinja'd!!!

After all that work I just did, everything seemed fine. Then the speedometer stopped working. No noises or jerky movements. Came to a stop and when I got moving again the needle didn’t come back up.

No. Please no, NO NO .

Did you lubricate the speedo cable? (I suppose it is a mechanical speedo).

If you did, I hope you left without grease (not oil) the last ten inches or so of the cable (nearest the speedo proper). Otherwise it ends up working itself inside the speedo mechanism, clogging it.

At least that’s the way it used to be with BMC/BLMC/BL transverse-engined tiddlers.

I did oil the cable on the transmission side when the engine was out. I’ll have to take a look at it, maybe it just worked loose from the trans.
